Copernicus is the EU’s Earth Observation Programme, offering free access to data through six thematic services. The Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS), implemented by the EEA and the European Commission’s JRC, provides vital land cover and land use information globally. Its core product, CORINE Land Cover (CLC), standardizes land data collection in Europe since 1990, with updates every six years. It uses high-resolution satellite imagery and in-situ data to map land changes across 44 land cover classes. Data is available in vector and raster formats, with over 85% accuracy, and supports a wide range of environmental and planning applications.
