RST Showcases Earth Observation Innovations at LifeWatch BEeS 2026 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

On July 9, 2026, the Risk-Space-Transfer (RST) Technology Transfer Office participated in the international forum LifeWatch ERIC Biodiversity & Ecosystem eScience Conference (BEeS) 2026 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria presenting its latest Earth Observation solutions across two key thematic areas – biodiversity and ecosystem responses to climate change, and biodiversity observatories and environmental monitoring.

In the session dedicated to biodiversity and ecosystem responses to climate change, RST demonstrated high-precision thermal satellite monitoring. This technology serves as an early indicator of drought and water stress in agroecology by detecting physiological plant stress before any visible damage occurs. Additionally, the presentation highlighted the critical role of these high-resolution thermal sensors in measuring the cooling capacity of urban parks to improve community resilience to climate change.

In the area of biodiversity observatories and environmental monitoring, RST focused on accelerating the twin digital and green transition by bridging science, technology and business. RST showcased the FIERCE project, demonstrating how its ecosystem-building and financial programs accelerate sustainable transformation. Finally, RST presented practical applications showing how space technologies and Earth Observation data directly support regional climate adaptation and decision-making across various sectors.
